Already it is Sunday night, where has the time went? I love when the weekend comes, and you can sit back and be excited that you get to sleep in. Before you know it, you end up staying up very late doing nonsense with friends. It one thing to sleep in, but staying up til 3 am on the weekends just completely can mess up your schedule, oh well.
It is Super Bowl Sunday, and the Giants and the Patriots are playing. Honestly, I could really care less who wins. If it is a good game then to me that's all that really matters. I think I have yawned 6 times as I have started to write this post, guess that's what happen when you decide to take a quick "30 minute relaxation on your bed"..yeah RIGHT. Overall, it was a good weekend. Had some fun with the staff and friends. Can't really complain. I mean for the most part I got my work that I wanted to get done this weekend, just not the "studying part"..in a little bit! I labeled tonights post as "That Feeling." You know that feeling you get when you see that "person", someone says something really nice to you, you feel accomplished, waking up in the morning feeel daaaang GOOOD...nope, not that kind of feeling. I am talking about that feeling you get when something you hear or do makes you stop where you're at and just freeze. It's almost as if you feel numb, and time has frozen. Almost like when your so tired you start staring off into space.
This past week I went to a club meeting where I work with adults who have different disabilities, some of them learning disabilities. I have been going to this volunteer for club for the past two years. It is something that I look forward going to once a week to see everyone, and give me a boost that I need in the beginning of the week. I am going to share two short stories with you tonight. I promise it wont be TOO LONG. 1st story, at the end of last springs meeting this guy gets up to give a speech about his time in the club. As he got up he started thanking everyone in the group for all that they have done. How us being there makes him happy, and its something he looks forward to coming to. His last words to everyone was this, "YOU ALL MAKE ME FEEL LIKE AN EQUAL" I'm a guy, and i will be completely honest, and think what you think, but some tears came down my face...YES, THAT FEELING! That feeling where something someone says that touches you in a way you can't really explain. To know that you can mean so much to someone no matter how small it may be. THAT FEELING. For him to get up there and say that was unbelievable. I am getting a little bit of the chills just sitting here writing it.
My next story was this past week, in the same club this woman gets up and started talking about how she joined this club that fights for more rights for people with disabilities. Long story short, she went on and and on how she got to stay the night in a hotel, eat McDonald's, spend time with friends and more on just one weekend. If your sitting here reading this thinking, "umm okay what about it" then that's a good thing because sit back and think about how much more opportunities we have than other people. If you really think about it then youll understand. THAT FEELING. When the woman said that I started clapping randomly, yes because I was being a goof ball, but because she was happy, she got the chance to live a little. its that FEELING you get.
Whether it was that courageous guy that stood up and said we make him feel like an equal or that woman describing her weekend, we all have those moments sometimes. It really is an eye opener. So I will say this. Tomorrow is Monday February 6th. I know for me it is going to be a busy week with exams, I need to get over it right now, and don't even think about beginning to complain. How is your week going to be or looking? I don't know, only time will tell. Let this week be your week! You want to give someone a big hug because you need it or maybe even them. DO IT. You want to write a letter to someone just to brighten up there day, WHY NOT? You want to see a friend, visit them. You know one of the hardest things in life, is losing people. Whether it be a loved one, family, a friend, a best friend, the person that you thought was meant for you, the person you walk past by everyday and said hello to, we all deal with those problems one way or another in our lives. My point is this, what makes you get THAT FEELING. That feeling where you feel alive, that feeling where times arent as bad as they seem. That FEELING where its okay to cry infront of them because their story is so incredible or even the words they say. Heck I shed some tears last spring infront of that group when that guy said those words I said above.
Its THAT FEELING. Tonight I am going to text message a friend I havent talked to in a while, someone that maybe I am friends with that I don't talk to much anymore, or maybe someone who means a lot to me. I don't know, guess I'll see. At the end of the day you have to do what you feel is right. Just remember that FEELING, don't forget it, because sometimes its what makes the HEART GO.
Everyday is a great day to be alive. Got a dream, protect it. Have a vision, look at it. Want something bad enough, go get it. Its your journey, no one can stop it you except you. Carpe Diem.
Maybe its THAT FEELING, where you feel accomplished, where you make someone happy, someone impacts your life..whatever feeling it may be..it doesnt matter, as long as you remember what that feeling felt like. I hope everyone had a great weekend and even a better week coming up.
Smell you soon!
