Today is Sunday January 8th 2012, and is my last Sunday at home for a couple months because I'll be going back to college later this week sometime. I went and bought a bag of Middleswarth chips this morning, because I realized it will be a while before I am able to get another bag. Talk about heaven on earth, yeah you heard! Today is SUNDAY which means one thing, that it is football Sunday. Sadly, my Philadelphia Eagles are not in the playoffs this year, what a heart breaker. All I got to say is that I'm hoping no Pennsylvania team wins a super bowl this year.
If you watch sports or the news at all you might know about the starting quarterback "Tim Tebow" for the Denver Broncos. He is becoming an iconic figure in all of sports because of his enthusiasm for the game, how hard he works, how he wears his emotions on the field, his talk of faith and god in his press conferences, his constant praying on the field when hes not playing and on and on. You either like him or you don't, PERIOD. A lot of people don't like him because he constantly talks about faith and praying and how it helps him do well. Earlier this year Tim won 4 or 6 games in a row, but people were still bashing him because he is not a fundamental quarterback. I mean even I know this, everyone does BUT he is winning. Today he is playing the Pittsburgh Steelers in a playoff game. I know I will be watching the game, as well much of the nation will.
I will be honest, I am a passionate Eagles fan, I don't really have any care for the other teams or their players. I stick to my team, there is no rooting for other teams, unless its a player that has played for the Eagles before that I would like to see do well. A while back, I was critical of Tim Tebow because he is not the conventional quarterback and his mechanics are not very good. YET, he is WINNING. The media destroys him everyday, because that is their jobs. My theory is, if he is winning then he deserves to be the quarterback, and when he starts to lose, then maybe they should look somewhere else.
Now to get what I wanted to say, is can anyone explain why fans and people are so critical of him? LETS BE REAL, I think a big part of it is because never in the history of sports have we seen a player or athlete that shows his religious views to everyone, and preaches about how he uses it on the field, and that he prays a lot. People get what I am talking about. I used to be critical of Tebow from a "playing standpoint", not him as a person. Just thought I would throw that out there. Does he have the right to be criticized? Does he deserve to be treated badly in the media? What has he done bad to society in general? Ever thought about sitting back, and think about what people say and how wrong it can be? I believe this is the case, I feel like people are wrongfully bashing him because their mixing their disgust of his play with his method of how he plays the game with faith. Never in history have we seen an athlete express his views like he does.
My point is this, sometimes its important to look at yourself in the mirror. Who are you? What defines you? Who do you want to be? What can you change about yourself, or would you change anything? No one is going to be perfect, I feel sometimes the words we say to people can really hurt others. Tim Tebow never did anything to harm anyone, he's being HIMSELF, and so should YOU. There will always be people out there that don't like you, or don't care about you, but that's LIFE.
There is good in people, somewhere deep down inside. So I titled this post as "Our perception of others." Yes, we all are going to have our opinions. As the good saying goes, "Some things are better left unsaid" Where is the love people?! No one said you have to be friends with everyone, but a little respect can go a long way, believe me. Even if that one person you don't really like irks you all the time, or you can't stand being around them, be the better person, turn your head the other way because you are better than that. Life is too short to worry about how others feel about certain things. Heck, even Scrooge had a heart right? :) So if anything you can get from this today, is that you know everyone is DIFFERENT in their own way. It's what makes the world go, everyone is unique in their own way. The only person you can truly control is YOU, do what you want to do, just remember what makes you be you. Everyone is going to have their perceptions, we can't control that except being the person you really are. Believe in yourself, and help that friend, family member, that old woman at the grocery store put her groceries into her bag, hold that door open for the person behind you, because one act of kindness can go far. I hope everyone had a great weeked and enjoyed the weather. Probably going to be freezing now for the next 2 months. BERRRRRRRRR. Alright, until next time, have a great day everyone.
Sincerely,
Grant
